The food

Six things we make more of than anything else.

This is a small kitchen and the menu is honest about that. Everything on it is cooked to order, the patties are pattied here, the tenderloins are pounded here, and the fries are cut here in the afternoon. If it is Friday there is catfish, and if it is gone it is gone by eight.

The tenderloin

Pounded thin, breaded here, fried to order, and served on a bun it does not remotely fit. Comes with pickle and onion, and mustard is on the table. This is the sandwich people drive from Edgerton for.

Burgers

A third pound hand pattied, smashed on the flat top, single or double. Cheese, bacon, grilled onions, jalapeno. The patty melt on rye outsells everything on this list except the tenderloin.

Friday catfish

Cornmeal breaded fillets, hush puppies and slaw, Friday only starting at four. We fry a set amount and when it is out it is out, usually somewhere around eight o'clock.

Wings and baskets

Wings by the half dozen or dozen, chicken strips, mushrooms, pickle chips and onion rings. This is the half of the menu that comes out to the game room on a Friday night.

Saturday steak night

Ribeye and sirloin, cooked how you ask for it, with a potato and a salad. Saturday only after four. Six tables' worth of steaks come off that flat top on a good night, so call ahead if there are more than four of you.

Domestic bottles and cans, two drafts, well drinks and a short shelf. Nothing here is complicated and nothing here is nine dollars. Bar stays open past the kitchen on Friday and Saturday.

Every basket comes with hand cut fries, and you can swap them for onion rings or slaw for a dollar. Kids' plates are six dollars and come with a drink. Carry-out is the same price as sitting down, runs about fifteen minutes and longer on a Friday, and we take a card at the bar or at the table. Prices here are illustrative for this preview.

The room

One bar, four booths, and a game room in the back.

Worth knowing before you come: the game room is a real room with a door, not two machines in a corner, and it is open to all ages until eight o'clock. That is why families eat here at six and why the same room is a different place at nine.

The place

A bar has been in this building since the thirties.

Owner name goes here took this building over and reopened it as a grill, and other than a new flat top and a lot of paint, most of what is in here was already in here. The tin ceiling has never been touched and the back bar came out of a hotel in St. Joseph.

The reason this page exists is that if you search this address you will find the restaurant that used to be here, with its own website, its own menu and its own phone number, all of it still live. People walk in asking for a pizza we do not make and call a number nobody answers. We are the ones here now, and this is the menu.

Kitchen takes its last ticket at 9:45 every night we are open, and the bar stays open past that on Friday and Saturday. Closed Sunday through Tuesday, which two directory sites still have wrong. Call ahead for carry-out, for a table of eight or more, or to hold the game room for a party, and a day's notice is plenty.
